On May 20th, without warning or notice, the Fire Gate at the end of Mountain View Blvd was removed.
For nearly 50 years, this gate has stood as a cornerstone of safety and privacy for the residents of Walnut Knolls, Mountain View Blvd, Poppy Ct, and Norris Rd. Its removal was not just unexpected — it was a disruption to a boundary our community has depended on for generations.
This isn't the first time our gate has been threatened. In 2005, this community came together, challenged the removal, and won. We know how to do this — and we're doing it again.
To restore the gate, we are forming the Walnut Knolls Action Committee — a resident-backed task force assembled to establish clarity, coordinate our response, and make our demand to restore the gate impossible to ignore.
To prevail, we need your help.
For residents with relevant legal, engineering, local government, and urban planning experience, please consider joining the committee to help navigate the bureaucracy and establish a winning strategy. For everyone else, your participation in our petitioning, email and phone campaigns, and any other organized actions will help strengthen our cause.
To get started, please take a moment to join the Resident Response Team. You can indicate if you want to join the committee or if you simply want to support the cause. Once registered, you will be able to:
Every day without this gate is a day our streets and neighborhoods are more exposed. But together, we have already proven that this community will not be ignored.
Register now. Stand with your neighbors. Help us bring the gate back.
